The single front door, and the logic behind it. Every question is photo-verifiable, so condition is graded from facts rather than from what the customer calls it.

How an answer becomes an outcome. Each branch maps to a rule in the policy, so changing the policy changes this chart.
Dollar figures are a worked example on a $185 filled sack, cheapest first, and the highlighted row is what the engine recommends. Freight, salvage and the option set all move with the item type, so a cover or a liner ranks differently. Grades C and D land on the same three outcomes here because none of those three prices reads salvage.
Nine scenarios covering every branch the engine can take. Pick one and the tree lights the route it followed, the form fills in, and the reply we would send appears below.
We grade condition from two facts a customer cannot fudge: is the bag still sealed, and has the foam been let out. Green means we can sell it again and it is worth paying to get back. As it fades to red we recover less, until there is nothing worth shipping.
